Asthma Quality of Life Questionnaire (AQLQ)
Overview
The Asthma Quality of Life Questionnaire is a 32-item questionnaire
which has been developed to measure the functional impairments that are most important for
adults (17-70 years) with asthma. The items are in 4 domains (symptoms, emotions, exposure
to environmental stimuli and activity limitation). The instrument is in both interviewer-
and self-administered format, and takes approximately 10 minutes to complete at the first
visit and 5 minutes at follow-up.
Five independent studies have demonstrated the strong evaluative and
discriminative measurement properties and validity of the Asthma Quality of Life
Questionnaire. It has been used successfully in a large number of clinical trials and in
clinical practice around the world.
