Antioxidants, Essential Fatty Acids (Omega - 3) and Anti-inflammatory Micronutrients in Asthma

A study by Burns, et al, in the journal Chest, notes “Low dietary fruit intake was associated with lower FEV(1)… and increased odds of chronic bronchitic symptoms… compared with higher intake.  Low dietary n-3 fatty acids intake was associated with increased odds of chronic bronchitic symptoms… wheeze, and asthma… compared with higher intake. Adolescents with the lowest dietary intakes of antioxidant and antiinflammatory micronutrients had lower pulmonary function and increased respiratory symptoms… suggesting that adequate dietary intake may promote respiratory health and lessen the effects of oxidative stress.” 234

All of our protocols include high daily intakes of antioxidant and antiinflammatory micronutrients and n-3 fatty acids.
